We can provide a range of inhouse laboratory services such as blood tests, urine examination and basic cytology. We also can send samples to an external lab for more expansive tests when needed. A few examples of what we can test in house:
- Preoperative general screening of an animal’s general health is sometimes advised to evaluate the risk of anesthesia before a surgical procedure.
- Urine examination for crystals for monitoring treatment response after water infection.
- Examination of ear discharge under the microscope for otitis.
Blood samples can usually be collected at the time of the appointment however some pets become quite stressed and may need sedation for this procedure. Sometimes we may ask you to collect a fresh urine sample from your pet, in this case we will discuss techniques with you and supply you with a urine sample container.
