We can perform various surgical procedures such as lump removals, stitch ups, cystotomies etc. A typical day procedure involves your pet settling in at the practice and having a general health check before the procedure to assess the anesthetic risk. The team will discuss the procedure with you and answer any questions you may have, once you are informed you will be asked to sign a consent from.
Most of the surgical procedures are under general anesthesia which involves administration of anesthetic drugs as an injection into a vein or administration of anesthetic gas through a breathing tube. Vital signs are monitored throughout the procedure to prevent anaesthesia-related adverse events.
Recovery time can vary depending on species and condition, as a general guideline we like to monitor patients for three hours post-surgery.
On discharge we will discuss post operative care including any medication to go home with.
